Prior to volunteering, Laurel regularly drove her elderly neighbors to our Mobile Food Pantry Program to help them get food. Once her friends passed away, she decided to come back to the distribution to lend a hand.

“I really enjoy helping,” she shares. “I now volunteer with
friends I’ve made here.” Laurel shares how fulfilling it is each time she volunteers with us. “I enjoy visiting people who come through our line that I know casually but don’t always get the opportunity to see.”

Laurel joins thousands of other Northland neighbors who contribute over 28,000 hours of service annually. Their vital support adds 13.8 full-time equivalents to our team of 29 and saves us an estimated $417,000 in staff expense.

“If you’re thinking about volunteering,” Laurel shares. “You should. You’d be surprised at how much fun it is.”
