Warren has taught writing and literature for decades. He spent a year in the People’s Republic of China, taught 8th grade to graduate level and more recently teaches at the University of MN-Duluth’s “University for Seniors” program. When he’s not sharing his love of learning with the community, he’s supporting it in a unique way.

“I was at one time a single parent and unemployed,” Warren shares. “I benefited from USDA’s government food surplus programs and food stamps, so I am fully aware of the crucial importance of Second Harvest.”

Warren began supporting our hunger-relief work nearly two decades ago. “I donate through my Individual Retirement Account (IRA) because it is convenient to do so and allows for a tax deduction.” By making a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) through his IRA directly to us, a qualified charity, his distribution becomes tax free.

“I give to Second Harvest because it provides important nutrition to those who need it most,” Warren concluded.
