Healthy Food. Healthier Northland. - Second Harvest Northland

Good health starts with what’s on our plates. Yet for many neighbors in the Northland, rising food costs make it increasingly difficult to access nourishing food. Too often, families are forced to choose less expensive, less nutritious options, which can affect both physical and mental well-being.

March is National Nutrition Month—an important time to recognize the vital role that fresh, nutritious food plays in the health and well-being of our community. At Second Harvest Northland, nearly ⅔ of all food that is accessed and distributed meets the USDA Dietary Guidelines for Americans. Foods such as fresh produce, dairy, meat, and fish are available to our neighbors, all of which are popular and in demand at our region’s 70 area food shelves.

Together, we’re putting food at the center of better health, so children, families, and seniors can take root and grow stronger—today and in the future. When you earmark your gift to our food shelf program between now and April 6, it becomes eligible for proportionate matching funds. Your generosity will stretch even further ensuring reliable access to nutritious food for all Northland neighbors.
