Maria loves to cook food traditional to her family, including rice, beans and chicken, though Jaden, her 7-year-old son, said he loves it when his mom makes pasta.
Everything Maria receives at the food bank “helps so much,” she shares, and helps her make meals both she and Jaden love.
During the school year Jaden gets free breakfast and lunch through his school meal program, but now that school is out for summer, he is at risk of missing some meals.
“Everything is expensive now,” shares Maria, who works in housekeeping. “I have a job, but that’s not enough.”
Now that school is out across the Northland, over 7,000 children are at risk of summer hunger. Your support will ensure families like Jaden and Maria have enough to eat all summer long.
